While the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD is still a top mobile phone and still going strong thanks to all the custom firmware we have had over the past year. But Its hard to ignore Samsung’s new Android top dog, the Samsung Galaxy S. We have just recently launched our Samsung Galaxy S Forum and our new Galaxy S Users website covering the latest on this new mobile.
If your unaware why this phone is so special, its one of the first Samsung mobiles to to feature the new technology Super AMOLED screen and 1Ghz hummingbird processor. Its much clearer and brighter than our i8910 HD Amoled screen. And its packed in a slim 9.9 mm body with a nice 4 inches of screen to enjoy. And it records 720p video at 30fps, not 22-23fps. So if you are thinking of switching in the future to this mobile, why not join us?

P.S No I haven’t given up on the i8910 HD yet. I’ll still use it.
The trouble with new technology is that it can sometimes be difficult to tell how much better it actually is than what you already have. Of course, manufacturers will always make wild claims about the advantages of their latest products. But how can you find out if it is something which worth your investment?
Often the best way to do this is by finding out the recommendations of others. There are plenty of websites that offer impartial reviews of products such as the latest Mobile Phones, which can certainly be very helpful. However, when it comes to HX-V3 Video audio, it is good to be able to see/hear it for yourself. I have created the samples below so that you can experience the benefits of these pieces of equipment first hand.
Ok so just how much better is the recorded audio on the new HX-V3 custom firmware? Well play back these samples with decent headphones or a stereo and you’ll hear just how much better it really is Vs any official Samsung firmware. I recorded the above on HX-V3-17, recording loud music.
You can now enjoy recording live music events etc without absolute rubbish audio. Plus with a smooth 24 fps.
Here’s another users sample below music to show off the better audio:
HyperX has released his HX-V3 firmware. This firmware is without a doubt the best you can get on your i8910 Omnia HD. I’ve recorded a few quick video samples and the video is excellent. I stable 24 fps and with good audio. You can hear birds, people chating etc from far away. Which previously we couldn’t in older firmwares and official firmware when recording 720p video. The example above is a sample of HX-V3 firmware with 24fps. Remember that youtube downgrades the qaulity some what.
Here is the original mp4 video sample (32mb)
This firmware also features kenitic scrolling everywhere, which makes life easier when scrolling through large amount of text messages or contacts. Also tweaks to the camera and the speed of the firmware is also very fast.

Here’s is an earlier video recorded on HX 2.11 – Note it manages only 22 fps and the sound distorts. Video is of a Renfe express train. Doing maybe 140+ kmp/h on the way to Barcelona ?
24 fps / 720p video made possible by HyperX and Wireless.
Thanks to the custom firmware master HyperX and wireless, our i8910 are finally going to see the 720p standard24fps. Not the 21-22 offered by Samsung’s official firmware releases. Wireless and HyperX have both worked hard to find a solution to the video frames per second issue. The savour coming from Sony’s Vivaz firmware files. While Sony’s new Vivaz mobile is running the same processor and similar hardware it does have a slight faster processor.
Nevertheless HyperX’s new custom firmware labeled HX-V3 will include 720p video @ 24fps at a constant rate. It will also feature better audio quality than the recent official firmware release.
Here is a sample you can download and test for yourself: HyperX HX-V3 video sample @ 24fps (43mb)
HyperX’s next firmware will include this 24fps video as well as all the other enhancements he adds to his firmwares. Which I must are are the best i8910 Firmware you can get for your i8910 Omnia HD
Also for those that don’t wish to wait for Hypers release can try UK-JB1 custom firmware 24fps fix by mwarner of our forums. This firmware has been patched with wirless’s 24fps 720p video fix. (24fps fixed frame rate video recording with 96KBit, 16KHz audio) Download that here: UK-JB1 custom firmware 24fps fix
Note: Remember to reduce the risk when flash please untick the boot flash option. If the boot sector is damaged your i8910 will be a shiny black brick.

Not sure if this is a direct result of the Samsung i8910 HD Petition that was started, however its something to be thankful for. Samsung have finally announced that they will be releasing a new official firmware come January 2010. First up we will have kentic scrolling over the whole phone’s OS, not just the browser as in the current firmware. Also were going to see a new Media Graphics Engine, this will improve the whole media playback speed and I assume this means a faster gallery and photo browser?
No mention of the 720p video now being a flat 24fps, which leads me to beleive that maybe its a hardware limitation. Which is why Samsung cannot give us a flat 24fps on our 720p video recordings. Instead 22 aprox fps will be our maxing frames per second.
Here’s the official list of changes:
-Webkit update: A faster user-interface when online, for swift navigation of your favourite websites
-Graphic engine: An improved graphic engine, increasing the speed to access the multimedia content
-Kinetic scrolling: The addition of a kinetic scrolling system provides a superior full-touch experience
Lets hope there are also some behind the scene fixes as well.

While we have had our fair share of improvements via custom firmware as of late, some would say Samsung haven’t done enough to address the issues in the current release firmware. Or look at perhaps porting Android over to the i8910. Give users the option of the buying the phone with either two operating systems. Android or Symbian. Sounds like a good idea right?
Well forum user Anphase has decidid to take this up with Samsung, he’s posted an online petition. Asking for Samsung to improve on the firmware and looking at a possible Andriod port for the phone. There are over two thousand signatures now and if you think Samsung should focus on the i8910 and its firmware why not check out the forum post. While your at it sign the petition too.
Anphase has also done some hard work, writting up a huge report with photos on the issues with the phone and its current firmware. One of the larger ones being the 720p HD video isn’t its advertised 24fps. Its more or less 22 fps or less at times. Us i8910 users are slightly disappointed in.

Opera Mobile 10 for Symbian released.
Opera software have recently released Opera 10 Mobile beta, this new refreshed browser is very slick and smooth. Compared to the buggy Opera Mini 9 this is leagues ahead. And running Opera 10 on my i8190 is just a breeze, infact it makes the built in default symbian browser obsolete. This is a must for all i8910 owners that want the best internet browser possible for their phone. And this is really it.
It runs much faster I think on our i8910’s than the demo’s N97….
Download it here: Opera 10 for Symbian
Many visitors of this site might not be aware that in our forums we have some real i8910 firmware pros. HyperX and Se7ven and just two members pf many, who have cooked up some spectacular Custom Firmware for you i8910s. After better photo qaulity? Or maybe better battery life and a faster more responsive phone? Even more free RAM vs a standard Samsung firmware.
Its possible, for a while I have been running HyperX’s speed build 1.25 which is a cut down firmware all the junk removed, jpeg photo compression reduced for better looking photos and this firmware is also very quick. Battery life is also good. I can manage over a week.
Just check out this video here of a custom Rom in action: HyperX’s Speed cook.
This firmware and many others are available here in our i8910 Custom Firmware / Cooked Rom section.
