HyperX HX-V3 Custom Firmware released – 24 fps 720p

HyperX has released his HX-V3 firmware. This firmware is without a doubt the best you can get on your i8910 Omnia HD. I’ve recorded a few quick video samples and the video is excellent. I stable 24 fps and with good audio. You can hear birds, people chating etc from far away. Which previously we couldn’t in older firmwares and official firmware when recording 720p video. The example above is a sample of HX-V3 firmware with 24fps. Remember that youtube downgrades the qaulity some what.

Here is the original mp4 video sample (32mb)

This firmware also features kenitic scrolling everywhere, which makes life easier when scrolling through large amount of text messages or contacts. Also tweaks to the camera and the speed of the firmware is also very fast.

HyperX HX-V3 Custom Firmware changelog:

  • slightly modded precision Theme (this theme really seems the fastest !)
  • GTE-Trust certification fixed (skyfire working, gravity working.. maybe some other apps too)
  • PC-studio doesn´t work after fresh – flash ! – FIXED

HX-V3-17 Firmware

Flash drivers (Win XP only)

HyperX has worked very hard on these releases, fixing the firmware issues where Samsung could not. He would be very greatful for any donations received for his work. We have donated, if you like this firmware maybe you should also donate a little?

Here’s is an earlier video recorded on HX 2.11 – Note it manages only 22 fps and the sound distorts. Video is of a Renfe express train. Doing maybe 140+ kmp/h on the way to Barcelona ?

Btw: I recorded this video to test the audio. As the old firmware’s audio somewhat failed in this type of environment. Live music, people. Many noises = distortion. Not any more.

hi, the flasher for custom firmware doesn’t support vista or windoze 7. You need to get a win xp machine or dual boot pc. Or virtual box to run xp. Sorry, its a bummer i know

This is a milestone in the life of the i8910. HyperX now has a lot of experience in producing firmwares for this phone, each one better than the last. Should keep this phone alive for at least another 12mths.

Garmin Mobile XT doesn’t work on this new firmware. Everything else is perfecto!! Super duper fast! :)
I am installing Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60 3rd Edition software version 5.00.50.

this is what i did exactly as listed,….but garmin installs but when I click icon in Applications folder, it comes up and goes away. Like if it’s running in background. I rebooted phone too but same results. please help as its biggie for me!
    -flashed phone to new firmware
-upon reboot, installed garminmobile ver 5.00.50 listed above from mass storage.
-during install, it says app is not compatible but I continued.
-then it started installation without asking me where to install (C:\, Massstorage, or Microsd card, not sure why !!)
-after install bar filled all the way, it said install complete.
-I tried to run it from Applications folder Icon, and I get results as stated above.

what am I doing wrong? or are you guys installing any other version???

    thank you very much!

yes it’s possible. just do this :
    1. Install Microsoft’s MS XML

    2. Then install the i8910 HD Flashing drivers. At this point it might pay to reset your machine to insure the drivers install correctly.

3.Start the downloaded HyperX firmware. (the .exe file, on your computer.) You can see the program, but can’t click the start button.

4.Shutdown your I8910 and start it with volume button up + lock key pressed+power button. (if its done correctly, you will see the bootloader, a blue screen)

5.Connect the phone with usb, and you will see that you can press the start button in the program to flash the firmware!

Hi XAn4ETO, thank you very much for comment…. really sorry to disturb you agian as i know very little about this thing. i want to ask you some more questions.
    1. when i tried to install MS XML 4.0, THEN what should i choose: Modify, repair and romove.
    2. how to install the i8910hd flashing drivers? In the folder it has ( phone drivers, samsung mobile usb drivers and SSDN_V1.1.
    3. For your comment above from step 1 – 4, do i have to connect my phone to my pc or not?
    4. Is HX_V3 the same as JB2?
    5. What are the good thing or bad thing to flash to this firmware?
sorry agian for disturbed you and thank you for your help..

Again read the forum, but if you are too lazy to do this I guess I will help you.

    1. It says this because you have already installed the drivers. If they are already installed there is no need to reinstall them.
    2. If you see a file you can install double click it to install it.
    3. No you do not need to connect the device in steps 1-4. You are installing drivers on Windows, connect the phone at step 5 where it says “Connect the phone with usb”.
    4. No, HX_V3 is a custom firmware created by HyperX this takes the best bits of all firmwares, and some additions of his ow. I believe the core components of this firmware are from JB2.
    5. Good things – Scroll to the top of the page and read the article this post is about.
Bad things – It will void your warranty, and if you do it wrong you will brake your phone.

Those that are having trouble, seriously, read the forums. I’m running Vista Ultimate 64bit, and i just followed the instructions have now have HX-V3-17 running on my previously Australian firmware’d i8910. Running Garmin XT, Video is great, phone runs fast. Love it.
For Win 7, you have to run in XP mode. Don’t worry about the Sun Virtual Machine at all. Then just follow the instructions and you should have no worries. The actual firmware from HyperX will open in the loader upon doubleclick and will do everything like hard resets for you.

HyperX – Dude, seriously good work. Thanks so much.

Got a few questions before I decide whether to flash this or not…

    1) Is the file on this page JB1 (Italy) or JB2 (Taiwan)?

    2) How do I move files? Can we do it either on the phone or on the computer? or it’s only 1 out of those 2 options? Because it seems like a lot of people are having trouble having the phone read their music folders.

    3) If I flash my phone to the HyperX’s JB2, since it is Taiwan based, does it mean I will still be able to read the Chinese characters on my mp3 files? or is this firmware basically just the Taiwan based settings, but have ABSOLUTELY NO CHINESE embedded in it?

    Thanks!

Hi there let me start by saying that this firmware is great, my phone is a helluva lot quicker through all operations, the biggie for me is the now the camera being far quicker at loading for example the preview of a picture i have just taken however i have a few problems, and wondered if anyone has had anythign similiar and if so any solutions:

my issues are: now that all the videos that all the videos that i put back on my phone after flashing dont play, you can see an image when flicknig through the list say in Video player, but you double tap a video to play it, the player comes up but nothing happens.

My second issue is identical as above but with my music files that now nothing happens once the music player opens.

any help would be gratefully received!

Hi. I’ve just tried my videos and sound files and they’re working fine. To be found and played in Video Player they need to be stores in the Video folder and for music to be found in the music player they need to be stored in Music folder. It runs quicker because its been modified to search fewer folders. So you need to store the right media files in their respective folders.
The only bad thing with this software I’ve found is I’ve lost all my photos from the Italian Firmware. Even though I backed my data up and had them stored on my Memory card.
    Hope this helps you Voodoochild.

Hi someonespecial thanks for your reply, i’m stumped then! all my videos are in the Video Clips folder and my music files are in the music folder, as per the file manager, so any more ideas? it opens the music/video file but then nothing happens regardless of how many times i press play, all my files are in the appropriate formats also.

Yeah i noticied that, luckily i had all my stuff backed up to my PC, but yeah installing this firmware does more or less wipe your phone clean.

I’m running XP and always scan files before I open them. From constant use of this site I can say the Viruses are definitely not from here. Possibly something else you’ve downloaded or web page visited. Just search the firmware in google. It will give you links where you can download from.

In what way did you “almost get a load of viruses from this site”?
Also: you wont be able to update the firmware using Vista, for whatever reason it doesnt work, you will either need to use a PC with XP running on it, or use something like Virtual Sandbox and run XP on another partition virtually.

thank you agian for your reply. I’m using MS Window XP Professional SP2.
My problem is all downloaded files such as:
1.Microsoft Msxml.msi ( I have download and already installed on my computer but i can not find it on C: Program file: Msxml 4.0).
2.I8910 Flashing drivers Install Microsoft’s Msxml.msi package first. The folder Drivers should be your next stop and you should click on the folder PHONE_driver, where you should run the setup.exe file. In the same Drivers folder, go to PDA_driver and right-click on the IbootHostUSB.inf file and choose Install. Don’t worry if you get an error message, it’s all good. The next step is the installation of USB drivers. You can find these in another folder called SAMSUNG Mobile USB DRIVER, click on the folder and then run the Setup.exe file. After the installation, you will be asked to restart your computer, choose to do it later and go to the Drivers folder and run the SSDN_V1.1.808.7165_SETUP_whql.exe file. Again, if you get an error message, don’t be scared, it’s supposed to do that.
    3.PDA_driver could not be found.
I just follow the comment above but i still can’t use all of these with my symbian tools 1.50. If you could help me then tell me more detail please, something like how to use all necessary file with symbian tools step by step….. thank you so much and very sorry to disturb you.

the update fixes the camera 24 fps just right
the sound was not really good until I used this:

Changed Audio codec without noise-supression (if the recording is to LOAD do the fallowing: Go to keypad, and type in the number *#0002*28346# then go to RECORD …… THEN CamcordARM_AMR THEN TX MicAmp and type in a lower number so the microphone will be not so sensible,….. if you want to save (even after reboot or flash) go back on beginning-screen and click on Back-up)

ok scrap what you have been doing and do the following:

    Download:

    * Micrsoft Msxml= http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=3144b72b-b4f2-46da-b4b6-c5d7485f2b42&displaylang=en

    * Flashing Drivers= http://samsungi8910omnia.com/downloads/i8910-firmware-flash-drivers.rar
    and install all of these

    * Symbian flashing tool 1.50= http://rapidshare.com/files/277778639/Samsung-I8910_Omnia_HD-flasher-1.50-Symbian_ROM_Flashing_Tool_v1.50.exe

    ok ]

    1) install the Msxml file
    2) Install all of the flashing drivers
    3) Reboot your PC to make sure everything is installed properly
    4) Now download the latest firmare: http://uploadkeep.com/769l2vu5m06i/HX-V3-17.rar.html
    Now unzip the file.
    5) Make sure your phone is fully charged, your i8910 needs to enter boot mode. Now with your phone off, hold volume up and the hold/menu button (right side top button), then the power button. Keep holding these 3 buttons down and you will enter boot mode. A blue screen appears as opposed to the homepage. now connect your i8910 HD to your PC via USB.
    6) double click and open the file you unzipped (step 4)
    7) once it is open it show your phone is connected on the right hand side, click the big button in the centre of the program and let the phone and program do the rest. Dont unplug your phone whilst this is going on.

Make sure you back up everything (pictures/videos/contacts etc) as this more of less wipes all data from your phone.

    Hope this helps!!!

    Hi
I’m not sure why so many people are having issues with flashing to this firmware – I am a 30 year old female, with little tech experience and I managed it!
Anyway, I just have 2 issues that I was hoping someone could offer advice on…
    1. With this new firmware, when I hold down the button to switch the phone off, I no longer get the ‘Switch off’ option, just ‘reboot’ – is there any way to change this? The reason it is a problem is because having had the phone for almost a year, I have always used this button to turn the phone off and can’t break the habit!
    2. I updated the firmware as I thought it would help battery life, however it now seems worse than ever. Any ideas?

Scully31579, for that reboot thing, go to ROMPatcher+, and remove the tick where says switchoff2reboot. About the battery, don’t know, mine is ok.

this firmware is one of the best I’ve used. However, it is not stable!

    issues i’ve had:
    * Phone reboots by itself
    * Photo browser stalls
    * Unable to create folders to move pictures into
    * Music player jumps…..MP3′s are not meant to jump!!! Before anyone says my MP3′s are faulty, they play fine on all other firmwares, PC software and media player.

I’ve now replaced it with the original crappy orange firmware, just to be ablew to use the phone again properly. unsure as to which firmware is the best to replace it with.

Such a shame as the HX firmware looks and runs great, just unstable in certain areas.

This is an excellent firmware, thank you very much!! I do not foresee that I will need to update the phone anymore in its lifetime. I always wear this little ‘smirk’ on my face whenever the iphone-people start waving their devices around… :-)
I have noticed that my mp3′s skip a little somtimes, though. This happens for 128kb files as well as 320kb files. Earlier firmwares did not exhibit this. No big problem, just wanted to let you know…

Hi Roman, there is no problem, you have to copy all your music files into the “music” folder (Phone memory, Mass Memory and/or MicroSD card).

Hyper x ‘s firmware is unstable, fast but unstable, got issues with camera and connectivity troubles with 3G in google maps so i went back on latest italian firmware.. . Android on omnia hd ? don¨t think so, it looks like it is too difficult to achieve, requires too much work from omnia hd fans. Check anphase’s forum too .

Sbp shell for symbian is now available for download , 15 days trial . works amazingly smooth on my omnia hd, i have the latest italian firmware. here is the link http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/.
    enjoy :)
p.s. Do not instal spb on the mass memory, try to get enough space on c : . i installed it on mass memory and my phone did not start again, so i had to flash it.after flash i installed spb shell on c: and it looks like it is ok to turn the phone off and on again. I was lucky all my contacts were syncronised with my gmail account through RoadSync so everything was restored . Thank you roadsync (latest version supports push mail from google )

… And to those questions previously in this thread asking how to upload the new firmware onto your phone. The process is as follows: Download the nessesary files from the link(s) provided by HyperX. Extract them to a suitable folder on your XP machine (as far as I know, flashing works only on XP machines) Turn your phone off after having backed up any data just in case, and…. hold the volume up button, the lock key and the end call button AT THE SAME TIME whilst the phone is off. This will load the phone into BOOT MODE (a blue screen with writing) Open the application on your computer. Now connect your USB cable to the computer, then to the phone. Fairly quickly, the “download start” button will become visible and clickable. You’ll then click it and the process will commence, ending with the auto restart of your i8910 and the firmware completion. During the flashing, do not unplug your phone or cause any interference. just be patient for the 5 minutes it will take.

Also, just because i am no computer guru – I take no responsibility for any problems that arise by negligence.

    :-)
