Samsung have released their first public i8910 HD firmware update.
Samsung have released their firmware update for the Samsung i8910 HD (Omnia), while its unclear what this firmware update has fixed its good to see that Samsung have already released an update for the i8910. And if the recorded audio codec has changed or improved? If the update is an unbranded / no operator logo firmware that’s just what us orange users will need, to start debranding!! Speaking of which we are on a Quest to get the i8910HD product codes so we can change it, and reflash some unbranded firmware goodness. Get rid of the horrible Orange customisations which cause problems and slow the phone down.

This is good news, even if this update doesn’t fix the video audio codec. At least we know Samsung are working on firmware updates for the I8910. The added bonus is if an update is avaiable we can start to debrand our I8910′s from Orange, O2, vodafone etc!
Can’t wait.Is there any option how to update the phone ? I mean with this new samsung update.I was trying to update through pc studio but it said:can’t connect to server…Does anyone know why ??? Internet connection is running without problems.

I think maybe because its for open market firmware (aka unbranded) not orange firmware. We might have to change the phones product code. Once we have it!
Mine’s been despatched today. So should have tomorrow.
Will be very keen to lose any Orange UK branding on return it to it’s original unbranded state.

Can someone pls explain in detail how to perform this rebranding, what is lost &gained, any dangers for Orange customer? Got my I8910 last Friday, am mpressed & gradually learning features. THNKS, Larry
AS far as I can tell the firmware release is not official. It has not been made available via the pc suite, and there is no OTA (over the air) agreement for updates.
No one has found the necessary drivers/software or bootloader method to do a full none pc suite update/reflash yet either.
But im pretty sure that one will be coming soon. There are geeks all over the world that spend their free time doing this sort of stuff. Looking forward to a full reflash!

I’ve rung up orange previously and they said the phone must be 3 months old before they unlock it for me. I’m a bit weary of going to the market and unlocking it
How and where do u download the new firm ware? its impossible
i got my phone unlocked through ebay .uk ,now im using my o2 simcard with no problems.i still want to debrand the phone to remove the orange s”"t though

Just to let you know that I have debranded my phone from the orange network and it works amazingly. Key points:
1) There are more widgets facebook, myspace, youtube, samsung fun club as well as online photo pages like flikr, photo bucket and pisca.
2) Vast improvement on the touch screen response. You will be amazed!!
3) Faster internet. You will definitely notice the speed when you are connected to a wifi hotspot or the wifi in your home.

hi, read your post and i am looking to debrand my 8910. i have read that its not possible to use vista, is this still a problem? ( my hard drive died on my xp machine and i havn’t got around to replacing it yet)

I’m interested in debranding my phone, just wondering, the extra widgets, do they come with the files your giving out? Getting kinda pissed at samsung as they’ve just taken down the omnia hd apps store for redevelopment so would be nice to at least have some extra features on this phone

i saw ur comment cuz i was just looking for a update for my phone. and guess what i had the same problem… so i looked to the text that said couldnt find server blablabla, c// pc studio ext. and i found out how to sol/ sall/ (sorry my english isnt that good hahaha) this problem.
first u go into ”my computer” ==> C disk ===> program files ===> Samsung ===> PC studio 7 ===> and than its the file named ”FUSUupdater” its the ugliest logo u’ve ever seen, fat pixels and shit … now click on that and follow the steps it will open the update menu, make sure ur battery is full enough cuz mine wassent and i need 2 wait when its full again otherwise it cant update ur phone cuz of low power.

seems that no1 can resolve the update problem. check out the first comment i had the same problem and i found out how to deal with this. for me its working hope for u it does the same thing. i dont know why it doesnt work via studio 7 like it should be.. but anyways there finally is a way to do this!
let me know it works with u 2, cuz i need to reload my battery first otherwise the phone has not enough power to run the programupdate. if urs is low 2 it will tell u to reload it before trying again.

Hey guys wondering if you can help, got the i8910hd phone but having problems performing software update throgh pc suite 7, it seems to download updates but as it’s installing them to phone it boots me out and says usb disconnected, tried this a few times but willl not let me go any further, i would’nt mind but it leaves my phone in an old “dos” like screen and i’ve had problems with it since i tried the first update, any replys would be grateful, thanks.
Same problem here, always at 27%. Read there are more with this problem. Seems a hard-reset and/or re-install of Studio solves the problem. I tried both though, no luck! Is there any alternative way>

OMGG been waiting for the update for ages…… sometimes is sayss no updates available n den sometimes its my phone is not supported n it also sometime disconnects (the usb dat is)…… itss gettin sooo annoying waiting for the updates. ….. please someone let me know if they manage to update theirss……. n im on the orange UK………….. thanks
Looks like theres a lot of us having this update problem, mine does the same as Phil’s. It seems to have fcked my battery life since and keeps freezing on me. Still looking for a solution! When i spoke to Samsung tech support they said, and i quote “It’s a working progress and you probably will have a few problems”. What a pile of crap! They suggested i send them the phone to be fixed and they’d do the update for me, not really the answer i was looking for. Will let you guys know if i find an easy to do answer.

pls let me know how I can get these files, and detailed instructions on using it. What are dangers if I do it wrong. Clearly, I must back up everything first, yes? then, what if it fails, can I get back to my original phone content at least, by restoring from backup? OMG……… i swear the new orange uk firmware was supposed to be out by the end of JAN????? its now feb n still cant update…… my pcstudios says there is no update to support my model or something…. so annoying… let me know if anyone updates please
hey guyz.. is this firmware update available for asia?? i mean this firmware is for unlocked GSM phone??? i bought my cellphone from US & using it in asia pakistan and its firmware is XXIF9 unfortunaitly i couldnt remember the custom firmware ver however…. could anyone of you guide me that i can update my i8910 by via phone update or need to flash it manually to dis new official update???
