Here is our quick test video of the new aac codec audio in 720p video. Excuse the video quality. it was taken in a dark room and of a poor quality clip of Pulp fiction
But the point of it is to just test the audio qaulity.
Youtube might reduce the audio quality a little so here is the original clip for download:
Download: i8910XXIG2_AAC_audio_test.mp4
*EDIT – Since this post we have now added some 720p daytime samples for your review.

nice now we need moreapps on our hd
July 11, 2009 at 6:48 pm
Honestly why would you take a freakign video fo a movie in the dark to show how well a cameraphone video works? Go outside or take video in a lighted area… Ugh
July 11, 2009 at 11:32 pm
Your all missing the point. Its not aboutthe video but the audio. The whole post about the new audio codec that couldn’t have recorded the sound like that before.

There are others test videos on youtube, people from everywhere are aware of this firmware. Here, take this links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zG6sGj_Ts8 (with AMR) and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCkMr7rxrhU (counterpart with AAC)

Hey Guys, I just wanted to ask, I dont know what to pick either N97 or Omnia HD, Please help me to what is better. If the N97 did not have a QWERTY keyboard it would be a much easier choice. thanks
July 12, 2009 at 5:56 am
@Joe
I picked the Omina HD but I bought the N97 first to test it out. Here’s the thing, for me 3G is really important coz I’m the type of person who cannot leave without internet but of course that’s after considering the specs of the phone should good as well. I live in the United States and the N97 has a US version but the Omnia HD didn’t so that was my reason why I bought the N97, I will say in my own honest opinion that the N97 is a great phone and still ONE of the best phones currently out there but then again each phone has its own disadvantages and it just happened that those disadvantages are pretty important to me, the following are just some of the disadvantages:
1) CPU/processor – N97 only has ARM11 with a clockspeed of 434mhz while Omnia HD has
ARM COrtex 600mhz
2) 3D Graphics Accelerator – Omnia HD – yes, N97-no (even though not alot of people find this pretty
important but to me it is, it’s nice seeing those 3D animations)
3) Camera – I know alot of people are saying that they don’t care about having a good camera on a
phone because they have a digital camera and I say yes that is true but the main point
is having an ALL-IN-ONE mobile phone considering the kind of technology we have now.
I still can’t believe that Nokia only settled with 5megapixel on their flagship phone N97
when they’ve already had that on the N95 which I also have when it came out 3 years ago.
The Omnia HD doesn’t only have 8megapixel but it also records 720p plus the improved
audio codec!
Now here’s what I’ve found out myself and I know alot of people doesn’t know this, i decided to return the N97 not only because of the above reasons but also because of the buggy OS and how the browser being so unstable BUT that’s before Nokia released their first firmware update for the N97 and I heard that alot buggs have been fixed after the release – STILL I don’t regret buying the Omnia HD, now that I’ve also proven that OMNIA HD 3G CAPABILITY WORKS WITH U.S 3G! PARTICULARLY AT&T!
The 3G reception/signal is not as good as the N97 US version which uses 850/1900mhz frequency, the Omnia HD is only able to use 1900mhz frequency band but considering my room is in the basement I would still get at least 3 bars of reception but when I go outside its full bars. 850mhz is better in penetrating buildings so I am so damn happy with my Samsung i8910 Omnia HD!

Is there a way to reduce the microphone sensitivity? Say when recording in louder environments? I noticed if I am anywhere loud the sound becomes distorted.
Thanks!
July 13, 2009 at 11:55 pm
To reduce the hiss / high pitch noise / microphone sensitivity issue… in the secret menu: *#0002*28346# – then 3 Records” – then the “4 Camcord AMR_AMR” and modified the first value from 30 of default selected the voice “to 16; Then selected Back – Back – 6 select Back-Up and you will see that Backup appears ok… on exit and stop… Resolved Problem;)

Richard i hve trie the steps for this audio fix but i still have the audio with a high pitched noise – any ideas?
July 13, 2009 at 2:24 am
I don’t understand why some of the comments keep referring to video when the clip has been clearly explained to demonstrate audio. It’s important to pay attention before stating an opinion.
That said, I’m also looking forward to the next video to get a combination of both audio and visuals.

I found the thread showing how to change mic sensitivity. Very nice with the new aac codec now
July 13, 2009 at 7:03 am
@Blue1k Would you share the url of the thread where the mic sensitivity is explained?

July 14, 2009 at 6:30 pm
Hello
I am on orange, why do we have to debrand our phone to get the updates, will orange ever support updates?
if not i will definitely flash it. If not ill just wait!
July 15, 2009 at 12:12 am
To Richard White:
Thanks very much for taking the time to describe how to change the sensitivity of the mic. The only problem is I completely lose what you’re saying from:
“and modified the first value from 30 of default selected the voice “to 16; Then selected Back – Back – 6 select Back-Up and you will see that Backup appears ok… on exit and stop…”
Any chance you could re-write it to make it a little clearer? Thanks for your help!

Hi,
I’m in the US near LA. I’m considering buying a i8910 unlocked, vs I8910xxie7, which I’m guessing is not the latest vs. I assume the latest is xxig2. Please bear with me, this is new to me and I’m trying to find my way to a good purchase.
My question is, if I need to upgrade to the latest vs, how do I do it? I want the phone for all the phone stuff, but especially for the camera capabilities, travelling soon to Ireland. Thanks.

Hi Jimbo,
You can flash to the italian firmware first, then download the official update to correct the video audio codec. This is all in our forum here: http://samsungi8910omnia.com/forum/omnia-hd-firmware-discussion/
The 8mp camera is good and the 720 qaulity is good also. But for dark and indoor shots you can’t beat a Xenon flash. The i8910 flash is only LED and poor for indoor shots.
Outdoor shots it will pass as a normal digital camera.
July 15, 2009 at 4:49 am
@Jimbo,
I live in the US as well (New Jersey), even though the i8910 did not come out with a US version I still don’t regret buying it especially that I have proven that the 3G works with AT&T. The phone is great in almost all aspects. Anyway, I have the UK version I think??? the phone was shipped from Hongkong but I know it’s not the Asian version because the language on the box is different. Is there any way to check on the phone which version do I have
I tried updating the firmware through PC Studio 7 (CD that came with the phone), PC Studio was able detect the i8910 but everytime I tried updating I keep getting a message saying that the connection with the phone has been lost and try again. I kept on doing this so many times but I keep getting the same result, maybe the update is only for the Italy version.
July 15, 2009 at 5:23 am
hi for sure the italy was only a test for the software update and when samsung finish all the revision they launch global

Guys i read in many sites the Samsung HD has HDMI port, could you confirm me if it has it or not? thanks.
July 17, 2009 at 8:10 am
No HDMI port Alex. But you can Stream 720p video with DNLA wireless tech
July 17, 2009 at 1:21 pm
anyone know when the new firmware will be available in the UK?
July 18, 2009 at 10:18 pm
Thanks for this video guys.
Do i see a video/audio sync problem here, or is it my idea?
Could you please upload videos that can perfectly showcase the video and audio syncing? Ie, speak to the phone if it is not too much trouble and the share the video with us. Both 1280X720 and 720X480 versions would be welcome. Try saying 1,2,3,4 for the first video and A,B,C,D for the second, or whatever.
I would also like to see a section dedicated to emulators, such as Amiga, Mame, GBA, Ngage hacked etc. So we can have a perfectly good idea of what runs and what’s not! Darn, if only this little marvel had a keyboard or at least more keys on it!
As for your winter time, you can send the phone to me, in Greece, since it is bright hot summer here and i will be making all the videos you want! I get to keep the phone for my efforts though! lol
Ok, that was a long first post that asked/suggested too much!
Keep up the good work guys!
