Our Orange i8910 HD debranded with lastest Firmware.
Thanks to the hard work of some of our forum member we now have a working solution for debranding and updating our i8910 HD’s to the latest firmware. With all the bug fixes and improvement from the latest firmware.

So far quite a few of use have debranded our phones, so this method is safe, it also shows how Orange’s poor firmware and applications really slowed the phone.
Changes we have noticed with the new firmware:
The reason GPS lock is quicker is that Orange had removed all the nice A-GPS stuff, whereby the phone uses the network to work out its position more quickly.
Now that is back in, the GPS performance is over 100% better than it used to be
Thats true, why Orange would remove it beats me.
Indoors I get full GPS signal with Garmin XT…thats pretty much amazing
The sound quality during video recording is still the same?
that phone will be available in o2 uk??
nice work maybe somone will develope a program to unlock it as well. that will be really good.

no, this firmware isn’t really that new as its dated 20th May 2009

Arrrrrgggghhh, I have the Orange branded phone and wanna debrand badly. I have a problem. Firstly, I own a Vista machine and wanna know if this current form of debranding will come to Vista??? and secondly, some nice person on the interweb need’s to put together a SIMPLE step by guide to perform this modern day feat. Thirdly, people were charging to download the files etc to debrand. Is this still the case.
If anyone can answer my questions that would be sooooooo helpful and cool

VISTA doesn’t work as the PDA driver only works on XP, so you’ll need win XP to debrand it. Yes some sites are charges 5 pounds to debrand it. Its very lame. Making $$$ from nothing. But thats life. On this forum http://samsungi8910omnia.com/forum/ there are steps to debranding.

Might be a stupid question but… I have orange insurance and often get new phones of them if i have the slightest problem, question is if i deprand will they take the phone back and would it void the warrenty, can anyone help
Hey guys! Just to let you know that I have debranded my phone from the orange network and it works amazingly. Key points:
1) There are more widgets facebook, myspace, youtube, samsung fun club as well as online photo pages like flikr, photo bucket and pisca.
2) Vast improvement on the touch screen response. You will be amazed!!
3) Faster internet. You will definitely notice the speed when you are connected to a wifi hotspot or the wifi in your home.

I debranded my phone and am as impressed as everyone else with it. One comment I do have is that the touch screen has been acting strangely since I’ve done this. Specifically when in portrait mode, it doesn’t recognise when you select the top line of a list, such as contacts, music library, or SMS list. It’s completely random, and specifically the top line only (all other lines work). When I turn to landscape mode the to line works. Has anyone else come across this problem? It may be crazy but this started this morning after I changed some names of music files in the library. Let me know folks! Otherwise th phone rocks. I watched an episode of Voyager on the tube on the way back from work and two dudes asked me what the phone I was using was, and the files I was watching, because of the AWESOME vid quality and the ginaromous screen
please help me guys!!!!!i was debranding the phone and everything was going fine,i was watching the instruction video on my other monitor,and when i looked back the phone looked like it was rebooting as when i last checked it was very close to finishing only about 20secs of the modem part left. but after the black screen it came up with a phone to pc connection picture with a warning sign in between looking like phone lost communication to pc?????now the phone is staying like that all the time no matter what i do,ive even took the battery out and put it back in,but still the same phone to pc connection picture!!!!!please help me guys…..i hope i havent knackered my phone!!!!! : (

Look for me to contact you about those files if I need them. I am looking to get an unlocked phone. So I may not need the files. But then again it all depends on the rev of the soft on the phone I get.

If you de-brand your phone from Orange – it does void the warranty. But, if you do need to claim on insurance, it will be more than likely that the whole phone is knackered/damaged – meaning they wouldn’t know you de-branded it. Just don’t tell them…I don’t think anyone really checks anyway
I’ve debranded by phone, which has removed all of the Orange junk and showed what the phone is capable of without networks interfering and trying to force their own brand and partnerships down your throat. However I’ve had two issues:
1. For some or other reason, in portrait mode, the top line in a list is often unresponsive. Is anyone else finding this problem? You just need to hit the line more than you would any other line in a list.
2. Try as I might I can’t get my phone to upload to Facebook. I’ve done everything I can on the phone, worked through the Communities App, reviewed usernames and passwords and no luck! Has anyone managed to get this function to work?
All in all the phone is AWESOME and knocks all other touch phones out of the water!

BUT, does anyone have the ORANGE firmware, just in case i need to put it back on in case phone needs to be sent back to orange for any reason if its faulty?

hey mark, I had the same problem just now. How did you manage to solve it? I tried to redo the process but as soon as it finishes the phone-warning sign-pc thing comes out straight away, I didn’t even have enough time to unplug the usb before it popped up. Please reply, i would greatly appreciate your help!

After debranding I have found the following: 1. my orange maps stopped working and I cannot seem to re-instal, I have phoned orange but I did not mention that I debranded the phone. They said that there was an issue with the instllation and for me to call later (FOB). I am planning on installing Garman XT – can any of you let me know if it works on the n60 5th edition?
2. My office apps do not work.
But overall I am happy with the results.

hi ivan…..i had an unlocked orange i8910 brought from ebay india.my indian simcard works well in that phone.still the orange logos and many other orange programmes still appear on that phone.main problem is i cant update the phone throo pc studeo.i am ready to pay the money to you.but help me to make it a fresh samsung one.
Can someone get me a Orange version with no contract..so I can unlock and debrand it myself?? I want these info’s too:
1. Orange plan is how much?(to get the phone) 2. If it’s possible to cancel the plan and keep the phone..how much does it cost??(same procedure as At&t with the Iphone) 3. it is free for 12 months @42, 900 min and msg, 2 months of free evening and weekend min it will cost u the remaining term ie 12×42 if u cancel within the 1st month. ps i would recommend u dont debrand it if you feel its an expensive contract as debrand=no warrenty flash = no warrenty insure the phone after firmware flash as that will be like an orig i8910 to the insurer. maybe they can track it to orange using imie

My friend had a samsung i8910 hd with old firmware but when i told him about new roms , he asked me to install one in his phone….so he gave it to me…
Error started as follows::::
1. First symbian rom flashing tool started showing error after downloading was started in download status area that it is unable to write data via usb..
2. After sometime in connection and progress area, i see fail after downloading to modem was finished..
3. For several hours phone got connected but nothing happened..
So i removed the phone and restart the phone but it wont start and i just see the light on the screen….
Help me guys…plz….. I m very poor…i cannot buy him a new one …
So plz… Help……….
