Samsung i8910 HD debranding
Were looking anyone that has i8910 HD unbranded firmware / generic i8910 firmware and the means to flash it to let us know. This way many users can flash the unbranded firmware if this wish debranding theirphones. Removing the operator’s logo’s and customisation, giving us the default applications too like facebook widget and social network upload features.
If you have any info on how to unbrand our Samsung i8910′s please let us know.

Sorry we posted earlier that you could use JAF to read the product code. Seems the tip we were sent was incorrect. JAF doesn’t work on Samsung Mobiles. So we just need to sit tight and hope that someone has a solution soon for debranding i8910′s.

Hi,
as the Apollo-Tool (v 6.05) does support the I8910 i guess you can flash it with this software.
all you need is apollo 6.05 and the flash files (you can get it on share4gsm.com) and then boot your phone with certain keys pressed (don’t know the keys yet) to bring the phone in the bootloader-mode and then you can flash the firmware you like on it. firmware includes the customizations made by providers (aka branding) but i think you will have to unlock (simlock) your phone afterwards too

Hi v1rtu4l Thanks for the info. I will look into it and if possible flash my phone with a generic firmware as soon as someone uploads/shares it.

Hi,
The old method of getting into bootloader mode does not work for this handset. Im wondering if an unlocked phone will be able to benefit from the firmware upgrade?
It might be worth £13 to unlock the phone and try it

What is Flash mode, iw ould try this, but i dont want my phone to crash
June 6, 2009 at 8:19 pm
Sudhanva, Flash mode is the mode your phone needs to be in when it is being serviced (flashed). Really could do with generic firmware now as orange have restricted youtube videos!

My girlfriend has the s8300 (tocco ultra) and it is terrible. It has so many issues, very slow menu! Try for the HTC touch HD.

I got it into boot mode, however when i try it again, it no longer works. Can you only do it once???!!!

They have done it over at http://share4gsm.com/index.php?strona=files&act=/Samsung/GT-I8910
Think you have to stump up 15 euro for access, but over at http://samsungi8910omnia.com/forum/omnia-hd-firmware-discussion/new-flashing-program-and-firmware-released-tomorrow/90/ they seem to think it works.

I had an i8910 branded to buggery by Orange…I have now successfully de-branded the phone to how Samsung intended. It’s not much different really
June 24, 2009 at 11:57 pm
I’ve uploaded the unbranded firmware xxie6 and orange firmware to demonoid.com to download for free using bittorrent. You’re welcome.
